BBAA: Member Authority

Because all powers of the Committee derived from state laws are granted in terms of the Committee as a collective whole, members of the Committee have official authority only when acting as a Committee in formal session.

The Committee will not be bound in any way by any statement or action on the part of an individual member, including the Chairman, except when the Committee, through an adopted policy or by a majority vote of Committee membership, has delegated this authority to him or her.

No member of the Committee, by virtue of his or her office, will exercise any administrative responsibility with respect to the schools or command the services of any staff member.

The Committee will function as a body on all policy decisions. As required by law, other matters will be settled by an official vote of the Committee in formal session.
