The appointment of a Superintendent is the function of the Committee. It may select an advisory committee or hire a consultant to help vet applicants. However, final selection will rest with the Committee after a thorough consideration of qualified applicants.
The appointment of the Superintendent will be secured through an explicit contractual agreement that will state the term of the contract, compensation and other benefits, and other conditions of employment. The contract will meet all state requirements and will protect the rights of both the Committee and the Superintendent.
The Superintendent will manage the system in a manner consistent with federal and state law and the policy approved by the Committee.
Establishment and modification of the Superintendent’s job description and employment contract requires Committee approval, both of which will be kept on file in the Superintendent’s Office.
