In accordance with state law, the Committee will approve a private school when it is satisfied that the instructional program of the school equals that of the City’s public schools in thoroughness, efficiency, and progress made.
The Committee recognizes that many worthwhile contributions are made to the City of Melrose by parochial and other private schools. Therefore, it is pleased and proud to cooperate with these schools for the mutual benefit of students, staff, and Melrose residents and organizations when law does not expressly prohibit this cooperation.
The Superintendent will maintain administrative guidelines relative to the approval of private schools in Melrose including, but not limited to, criteria and measurement standards, approval timelines, liability provisions, and separation requirements.
